Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team, a position that requires rigorous attention to detail and exceptional analytical skills. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. You will be responsible for minimizing the costs of a project and enhancing value for money while ensuring that the project complies with legal and quality assurance requirements. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a challenging environment and is passionate about promoting sustainable building practices. You will work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure responsibilities are completed on time and within the specified budget.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, with architects and clients.
  • Conduct cost analyses to determine project feasibility and efficiency at various stages.
  • Manage and oversee project costs, ensuring all expenditures are within the agreed budget.
  • Evaluate and negotiate the cost of projects and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
  • Advise on procurement strategy, helping to select contractors for tendering and awarding work.
  • Measure, value, and monitor construction work progress against project plans.
  • Provide support to project managers and engineers to ensure contractual objectives are met.
  • Analyze project risks related to cost, time, safety, and environmental impacts.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of accounts and financial agreements for audit purposes.
  • Prepare and check cost estimates and regularly report financial status to management.
  • Use strong technical knowledge to advise on construction methodologies and sustainable practices.
  • Resolve contractual and commercial problems to maintain amicable project progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a quantity surveying or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and teamwork skills are essential for this role.
  • Proficiency in the use of relevant software, like AutoCAD and MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently.
  • Membership in a recognized professional surveying organization is highly preferred.
