Job Description

A Quantity Surveyor plays a crucial role in the construction industry, acting as a financial and contractual specialist. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review detailed cost estimates and plans for construction projects.
  • Conduct risk, value management, and cost control during project execution.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage costs effectively to meet project budgets.
  • Oversee the measurement and valuation of construction work progress on site.
  • Evaluate and authorize progress payments to contractors and suppliers.
  • Advise on procurement strategy and selection of contractors for projects.
  • Coordinate work with contractors, engineers, and architects to resolve issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of costs, reports, and project specifications.
  • Undertake feasibility studies and prepare detailed reports to inform decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations throughout projects.
  • Lead meetings with project teams to discuss financial and contractual matters.
  • Provide client-facing reports and presentations on financial performance indicators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction or civil engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, contract law, and procurement strategies.
  • Excellent numerical skills and proficient with cost estimating software and spreadsheets.
  • Good knowledge of building and construction legislation and standards.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines efficiently.
