The QA/QC Engineer – Piping is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring quality control activities related to piping fabrication, installation, testing, and documentation to ensure compliance with contract specifications, approved drawings, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and applicable codes and standards. The role supports construction activities across Oil & Gas, industrial, and civil projects by ensuring piping works meet required quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Documentation
Review contract specifications, piping drawings, isometrics, material specifications, and technical documents to identify quality requirements.
Prepare and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and inspection checklists for piping activities.
Prepare piping material inspection and testing plans covering material type, test requirements, frequency, acceptance criteria, and required records.
Review method statements and procedures for piping works to ensure compliance with quality and contractual requirements.

Site Monitoring & Inspection
Monitor and follow up piping fabrication and installation activities in accordance with approved drawings, isometrics, method statements, and ITPs.
Conduct daily site inspections and walkthroughs to verify compliance of piping works including fit-up, welding, supports, alignment, and installation.
Receive, log, and process Requests for Inspection (WIR/RFI) and coordinate inspections with consultants and clients.
Perform material receiving inspections for pipes, fittings, valves, flanges, gaskets, and bolting to verify compliance with approved submittals.
Ensure only latest approved drawings and documents are used at site by contractors and subcontractors.
Monitor storage, handling, preservation, and traceability of piping materials.
Welding, NDT & Testing Control
Verify welder qualifications, WPS/PQR compliance, and welding activities in accordance with approved procedures.
Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities as per project requirements.
Monitor and witness pressure testing (hydrostatic / pneumatic) and ensure test procedures and acceptance criteria are met.
Review welding records, NDT reports, and pressure test documentation for completeness and compliance.
Quality Control & Non-Conformance
Identify, report, and control non-conforming piping works and materials.
Issue and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and monitor corrective and preventive actions until closure.
Verify effectiveness of corrective actions prior to re-inspection or acceptance.
Support prevention of recurring quality issues through coordination with construction teams.
Records Management & Reporting
Maintain piping quality records in accordance with approved ITPs, project requirements, and contract documents.
Ensure proper filing and handover of original quality records to the Document Control team.
Prepare inspection summaries, test reports, and quality status reports for audits, management review, and handover.

Audits & Coordination
Support internal and external quality audits related to piping works.
Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, welding inspectors, and testing agencies on piping quality matters.
Provide technical quality guidance to site teams to ensure compliance with approved quality requirements.

Required Qualifications & Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in QA/QC roles for piping works within construction or Oil & Gas projects
Strong knowledge of piping fabrication, installation, welding, inspection, and testing practices
Experience in preparation and implementation of piping ITPs and inspection checklists
Familiarity with applicable piping codes, standards, and specifications
Proven experience in NCR management, inspections, and quality documentation
Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel
Strong coordination, analytical, and reporting skills
High attention to detail and commitment to quality compliance
