Job Description

The Project Manager for Construction in the Oil & Gas sector plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating all phases of construction projects within the oil and gas industry. This role involves managing complex, large-scale projects, often in challenging environments that require meticulous planning, resource management, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. The Project Manager will work closely with stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and clients, to ensure project requirements and goals are met. An ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project management, with a strong understanding of the construction process, risk management, and budget control. The ability to lead multifaceted teams and work under pressure while delivering projects on time and within budget is essential for success in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for construction projects.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of contractors and subcontractors on-site.
  • Ensure that all project work is completed in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular project site inspections to monitor progress and quality of work.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies for mitigating these risks effectively.
  • Ensure timely acquisition and management of necessary project resources and materials.
  • Lead project meetings to keep all team members informed about project status and updates.
  • Manage project documentation and reporting required for audits and project review.
  • Evaluate project performance and identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Negotiate contract terms with suppliers and stakeholders to secure favorable agreements.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality criteria and client specifications satisfactorily.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the oil & gas construction sector.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, engineering principles, and project management tools.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively in large-scale projects.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a track record of leading diverse teams successfully.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with project management software and IT fluency is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and make decisions under pressure.
  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP or equivalent) is a strong asset.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site at various project locations as required.
