Job Description

As a Procurement Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the purchasing functions related to engineering projects. Your expertise in sourcing quality materials, negotiating favorable terms, and managing supplier relationships will be crucial in fulfilling project requirements efficiently and cost-effectively. You're responsible for ensuring that all engineering specifications are met and that the products procured align with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Furthermore, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, and financial teams to ensure that procurement strategies align with overall business objectives. In this role, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication capabilities are essential to succeed and drive organizational growth.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for engineering projects and operations.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure advantageous terms for materials and services.
  • Identify potential suppliers through market research and evaluations for project needs.
  • Analyse market trends to anticipate risks and opportunities in supply chain management.
  • Collaborate with project and engineering teams to understand procurement needs and specifications.
  • Ensure materials and services are delivered on-time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for compliance, auditing, and project records.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration and communication.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure service quality.
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure optimum stock levels to prevent project delays.
  • Address any procurement-related issues that arise and implement corrective actions quickly.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and materials to optimize procurement processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in procurement or purchasing, specific to engineering.
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven success in securing preferential supplier terms.
  • Excellent analytical skills to assess data and identify feasible procurement solutions.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools to optimize purchasing processes.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management concepts and practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
