Process Safety Engineer

The Process Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring operational safety in industrial environments by identifying and mitigating process-related hazards. This role involves conducting risk assessments, designing safety systems, and ensuring compliance with local and international safety standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in chemical or process engineering, combined with practical experience in safety management.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct hazard identification studies (HAZID), HAZOPs, and risk assessments.

• Analyze process designs for safety compliance and recommend improvements.

• Develop and implement process safety management systems.

• Perform consequence modeling and quantitative risk assessments.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

• Investigate incidents and near misses, providing root cause analysis.

• Review safety instrumented systems (SIS) and alarm management strategies.

• Provide technical support during design, commissioning, and operations.

• Conduct safety audits and inspections on process units.

• Deliver safety training and awareness sessions for operational staff.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.

• Minimum 4–6 years of experience in process safety or HSE engineering.

• Strong knowledge of process safety standards (API, OSHA, IEC).

• Experience with risk assessment tools such as HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA.

• Familiarity with simulation and modeling software (PHAST, DNV, etc.).

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong report writing and communication abilities.

• Ability to work in high-risk industrial environments.

• Certification in process safety or functional safety is a plus.

• Prior experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or manufacturing industries.
