Principal Systems Engineer

A complex, large-scale enterprise organization is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to provide senior technical leadership across its infrastructure and systems environment. This is a high-impact, senior role requiring extensive technical expertise, the ability to set engineering standards, mentor engineering teams, and lead critical infrastructure implementations and escalations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of complex enterprise infrastructure solutions from concept through to production.
• Define and enforce technical standards, governance frameworks, and engineering best practices across the systems function.
• Provide senior technical leadership and mentoring to infrastructure and systems engineering teams.
• Lead critical incident escalations, complex troubleshooting activities, and post-incident root-cause analysis.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation including solution designs, architecture diagrams, HLDs, and LLDs.
• Engage with senior stakeholders, enterprise architects, and technology vendors on strategy and roadmap planning.
• Review and approve technical designs, change requests, and solution proposals submitted by engineering teams.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the systems engineering function.
• Act as the technical authority across compute, storage, networking, and cloud platform domains.
  
  

Qualifications and Skills:

• 10+ years of experience in systems or infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or principal capacity.
• Deep technical expertise across multiple domains including compute, storage, virtualization, networking, or cloud.
• Strong experience with enterprise infrastructure platforms such as VMware, HPE, Dell, Cisco, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in solution design and producing formal technical architecture documentation.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
• Proven experience mentoring and developing junior and mid-level engineering professionals.
• Advanced certifications such as VMware VCP/VCIX, Cisco CCIE, or equivalent are highly advantageous.
