General Purpose of Role

  • Determines methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner for meeting objectives. Applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis. Is fully conversant in the profession and proficient in the utilization of current engineering theories and practices.May serve as a technical consultant in an area of specialty. May provide discipline supervision for one larger or one or more smaller projects.

Business Development Support

  • Assists business development activities by maintaining an up to date personal profile and resume. Builds positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors. Supports proposals by developing the discipline execution strategy, estimating costs, writing proposal content, and presenting to customers. May be called upon to lead all or part of the technical proposal.

Business Operations

  • Supports the business by communicating team resource loading and skill requirements to a direct supervisor or Discipline Manager. Ensures the project work is covered for vacation and unplanned absences. Mentors/trains and supports the delivery of training. Assists in the employee performance review process . Facilitates coverage of activities when people leave the team. Encourages knowledge of and compliance with requirements and processes. Works to resolve inter-discipline, vendor, and customer issues. Ensures discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.

Technical Competency

  • Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates. Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful. Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence. Supports checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
  • Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates. Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful. Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence. Supports checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
  • Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to HSE management and its associated requirements in a project environment.
  • Expert knowledge in design & selection of HVAC equipment for offshore oil & gas projects of comparable complexity and value is essential.
  • Experience in Detailed Design and EPC phase, procurement of equipment and management of third parties is preferred.
  • Participation in projects in Middle East is preferred.
  • Demonstrate capability to actively engage in client workshops covering design review, HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, sustanability, reliability, quality reviews etc.
  • Has experience in discipline Basis of Design development and equipment selection philosophy.
  • Able to complete equipment selection studies for new equipment and adequacy studies of existing equipment.
  • Has expert knowledge in preparation of specifications, mechanical datasheets, requisitions along with carrying out technical bid evaluation for HVAC equipment and packages.
  • Can describe engineering skills to consistently deliver quality, work accurate and timely to deliver activities and deliverables for Worley and its clients.
  • Conduct document checking and design verification tasks for compliance to company and project specifications
  • Conduct interdisciplinary coordination activities.
  • Must have extensive knowledge about codes, standards & recommended practices for this discipline.
  • Should have knowledge of other international codes and standards, statutory and regulatory requirements and a good understanding of onshore / offshore engineering practices applicable to mechanical-rotating engineering design for oil and gas / refinery / petrochemical facilities.
  • Has expert knowledge and experience in design & engineering of following types of HVAC equipment:
    • Centrifugal Chiller Compressors (specific to Process Gas Applications)
    • Air cooled chiller
    • Package and DX type unit
    • Chilled water Pumps
    • HVAC control philosphy
    • Fans and blowers
  • Extensive knowledge of procurement support and package management for equipment purchase. The candidate shall demonstrate knowledge in typical engagement covering manufacturer ITP, sub-supplier order, material certification, welding, NDE and testing procedures, manufacture hold points, stage payment, FAT and inspection release.
  • Previous experience and competence in completing site visit to client site, information gathering and lision with client representative.
Project Execution

  • May participate in project execution strategy and planning. Knows the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success. Implements innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence. Supports management of project change and progressing for the discipline and works with the Project Management Team to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability. Plans discipline quality, monitors quality activities, drives and participates in squad checking, recommends improvements, and takes action where required.

Project Deliverables

  • Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, calculations, etc. Crafts recommendations and creates final documentation. Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc. Creates final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursues customer approval. May review similar documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done by direct reports.

Procurement Support

  • Incorporates information from multiple sources into equipment/material specifications, data sheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions. Participates in bid clarifications, conducts bid evaluations, completes inter-discipline vendor information review and approval, and finalizes other certification activities. Reviews similar documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done by direct reports.

Site Support

  • Seeks input from knowledgeable sources, participates in constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews, and ensures that requirements are incorporated into engineering/design. Works with site personnel to resolve issues. May create plans or documents that supports construction, testing, commissioning, operations, maintenance, or decommissioning. May provide or lead on-site support for construction, commissioning, or turn over.

Qualifications, Job Specific Knowledge / Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering. Trained in leadership and project execution.
  • Training in risk management or quality.
  • Has a strong background in discipline work and a strong understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices. Skilled in estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
  • Strong experience handling Offshore EPC projects
  • Experience working in project leadership. Specialized expertise in one or more areas of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices.
  • Decision Making: Empowered to make responsible decisions within the limits of company practices. Difficult, complex or unusual decisions will be referred to the Location Manager of Engineering or Discipline Manager.
  • Supervision Received: Works with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance. Influence over duties. Work is assigned only in terms of broad objectives to be accomplished, and is reviewed for policy, soundness of approach and general effectiveness. Work is reviewed to ensure conformity with policy and for coordination of other company departments.
  • Supervision Authority: Typically up to 10 direct reports consisting of less senior engineers and designers within the same discipline but could include total team size much greater than this with supporting coordination. Reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy. Plans, controls & reports on project work. May have authority for performance evaluations impacting pay. May make recommendations concerning selection, training, rating and discipline of staff.
  • Communication: Seasoned ability to inform and persuade on complex matters comes from recognition of discipline mastery. Utilized on the most complex and difficult problems.
  • Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams. Can navigate intranet pages, conduct searches, and retrieve information. Can organize information from many sources and retain as per the prescribed format and policies.
  • Competent in Microsoft Access and PowerPoint. Able to touch type. Proficient in specialty engineering or design tools, analytics and modeling, and cross-discipline data centric methods.

  • Assume hands-on management and implementation of all relevant company HSE requirements. Drive Safe and Sustainable engineering outcomes throughout the asset lifecycle via the application of SEAL.
