Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to work with Dr. Arwa Baabdulla on the mathematical modeling of cancer dynamics and treatment, with a particular focus on oncolytic virotherapy, tumor–virus interactions, anti-tumor immune responses, and combination therapies. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, mathematical analysis, and numerical investigation of models describing the complex interactions among tumor cells, oncolytic viruses, immune cells, and therapeutic interventions. The research will employ mathematical and computational approaches to investigate cancer progression, treatment response, and strategies for enhancing the effectiveness of oncolytic virotherapy and related combination therapies. A major component of the research will involve the formulation and analysis of optimal control problems to investigate effective therapeutic strategies, including treatment scheduling, optimization of therapeutic interventions, and combination treatment approaches.

Minimum Qualification

PhD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.

Preferred Qualification

A strong research background in mathematical oncology and/or mathematical biology, preferably with applications to cancer modeling and treatment. Demonstrated experience in the development and analysis of nonlinear mathematical models arising from biological or biomedical systems. A strong background in ordinary differential equations, nonlinear dynamical systems, and stability analysis. Demonstrated expertise in bifurcation analysis, sensitivity analysis, and numerical simulation of nonlinear mathematical models. Strong expertise in optimal control theory, including the formulation, analysis, and numerical solution of optimal control problems, preferably with applications to cancer treatment or other biomedical systems.

Expected Skills

The successful candidate should demonstrate strong expertise and research experience in the following areas: Mathematical modeling in cancer biology, including tumor dynamics, treatment strategies, and therapeutic response. Stability analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems. Bifurcation analysis and the investigation of complex dynamical behavior. Sensitivity and parameter analysis of mathematical models. Optimal control theory, including the formulation, analysis, and numerical implementation of optimal control problems. Numerical simulation and computational analysis of nonlinear mathematical models. Proficiency in computational and programming tools such as MATLAB, Python, or equivalent software.
