The Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to a start-up research project on Bilingual Conversational AI for Wellbeing and Psychology Career Guidance in the UAE. The postholder will have a leading role in the design, implementation, and evaluation of two bilingual (Arabic/English) studies examining conversational AI in relation to workplace wellbeing and psychology career guidance. This is a psychology-led post. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the Principal Investigator, Co-Investigators, research students, and external technical partners, and will contribute to both the scientific delivery and day-to-day coordination of the project. Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day coordination and delivery of the research workstream across both studies, ensuring timely progress against agreed milestones and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the design and refinement of study materials and protocols.
  • Coordinate participant recruitment, data collection, and follow-up for employee and student/ graduate samples.
  • Conduct high-quality quantitative and mixed-methods data analysis, and contribute to the interpretation of project findings.
  • Work collaboratively with the PI, Co-PIs, and technical partners on user acceptance testing, safety auditing, Arabic-English parity evaluation, and human-centred benchmarking of system performance.
  • Contribute to project reporting and dissemination of findings by taking an active role in preparing publications arising from the project, with an expectation of substantial contribution to high-quality journal submissions and conference dissemination.
  • Support the mentoring and supervision of graduate and undergraduate research assistants under the guidance of the PI and Co-PIs.
  • Undertake other research-related duties commensurate with the level of the post.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Psychology.
  • Strong track record of conducting human research in psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience in research design, psychometrics, data collection, and quantitative analysis.
  • Experience of supervising, co-supervising, mentoring, or supporting undergraduate and/or postgraduate student research.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Desirable Criteria
  • Research experience in digital mental health, digital wellbeing, online support tools, technology-enhanced assessment, or human-centred evaluation of digital systems.
  • Experience contributing to interdisciplinary projects involving psychology and technology.

Special Instructions to Applicant

This is a 24-month fixed-term, grant-funded appointment, normally offered at 0.5 FTE, subject to university approval and standard employment checks.

Salary Range

80000 to 110000
