Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join the Department of Statistics and Business Analytics at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) in Al Ain. The successful applicant will be mentored by Dr. Jing Xu, Assistant Professor, and will contribute to an innovative research project focused on developing novel statistical methodologies for mobile health (mHealth) studies utilizing micro randomized trial (MRT) designs. This is a 6-month contract position, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding. This role offers the opportunity to work within a global and interdisciplinary research environment. Our projects involve a network of collaborators who hold academic positions at leading institutions worldwide such as the University of California Irvine, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, UAEU, Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore, and UC Berkeley and San Francisco.

Minimum Qualification

Education: - For Post-Doctoral Researcher: A PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a closely related field is required. - For Research Assistant: A Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field is required. Technical Expertise: Strong background in mathematical and computational statistics. Computational Skills: Advanced programming skills in R, with experience in developing R packages. Domain Knowledge: Solid foundation in statistical machine learning and modelling high dimensional data. Demonstrated interest or experience in causal inference is essential. Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex research clearly to an academic audience. Topic Alignment: A genuine interest in the application of causal inference methods to mobile health interventions and micro-randomized trials.

Preferred Qualification

Prior experience with micro-randomized trial design or data analysis. A publication record in peer-reviewed journals (commensurate with career stage).
