Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state-of-the-art facilities across the United Arab Emirates. NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the M42 network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.

The position works independently across multiple POCT sites to maintain device functionality, operator competency, and adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards (JCI, CAP, ISO 22870). The role plays a key part in quality control, troubleshooting, documentation, and supporting a timely, cost-effective POCT service while escalating complex issues to senior team members as required.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day POCT operations across multiple sites, ensuring uninterrupted and accurate testing services.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (JCI, CAP, ISO 22870, DHA/DOH/MOH).
  • Perform routine POCT testing, quality control checks, and basic troubleshooting of POCT devices.
  • Monitor device functionality, maintenance, and calibration in line with manufacturer and institutional guidelines.
  • Ensure operator competency by supporting training, certification, and ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reporting within POCT systems and logs.
  • Escalate equipment malfunctions, abnormal results, and compliance issues to senior POCT staff as required.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety, and service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a related field.
  • Valid DOH / DHA / MOH professional license (as applicable to the facility).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably with Point of Care Testing (POCT).
  • Strong knowledge of POCT regulations, accreditation standards, and quality systems (ISO 22870, CAP, JCI).
  • Experience with POCT devices, quality control procedures, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in laboratory documentation, data entry, and use of laboratory information systems (LIS).
