Aldar Academies are currently seeking an outstanding Phase Leader(Primary) for Al Ain British Academy, commencing August 2026.

Candidates must have a secure knowledge of teaching the English National Curriculum .Potential candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards and plug gaps in learning to ensure outstanding progress for all. They will be able to demonstrate leadership skills/experiences at a variety of levels and to be effective in working collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities
Main Duties:
A Strategic direction and development of the department/phase
Develop and implement policies and practices for department/phase which reflects the School’s vision, aims, commitment to high standards of achievement, and effective teaching and learning;
Establish, monitor and evaluate short, medium and long term plans for the development of department;
Use data effectively to identify students who are underachieving in department; create and implement plans of action to support those students;
Implement and deliver intervention programmes within the department/phase to support student achievement and review the impact;
Analyse and interpret relevant school data, to inform policies and department/school SEF writing;
Ensure that appropriate and relevant schemes of work are developed, in place, and regularly reviewed and evaluated, for all year groups and courses. These must include suitable provision for SEN/POD, AG&T, and EAL students.
Teaching and learning
Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression in department/phase for all students including those of high ability and those with special educational needs;
Review and monitor curriculum coverage through the use of assessment platforms;
Establish and implement clear policies and practices for assessing, recording and reporting on student achievement;
Set expectations for staff in relation to standards of achievement and the quality of teaching and learning and behaviour;
Evaluate the quality of teaching and learning of department/phase and use this to identify effective practice and areas for improvement; take action to further improve the quality of teaching and learning;
Ensure the department is providing a variety of ECAs, parent workshops, and events;
Leading and managing staff
Performance manage team in accordance with school performance management policy;
Establish clear expectations and constructive working relationships with team, ensuring collaboration, support, accountability and high professional standards;
Hold regular department meetings with minutes and agendas; agenda should include focus on improving standards relating to student achievement and teaching and learning;
Managing resources
Efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources including managing any cover internally within the department/phase;
Maintain efficient and effective control of the Department’s Resource budgets;
Ensure effective and stimulating environments within the department/phase to support teaching and learning in accordance with Learning Environment Policy;
Ensure a safe working and learning environment in which risks are properly assessed and Health and Safety policy and regulations are observed at all times.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
To be a mentor for Early Career Teachers within the department/phase;
Manage duties and cover within the phase/department;
Cover for absent colleagues where required;
Support staff with parent communication, meetings, and pastoral care of students within the phase/department;
Review and support with termly reports and parent teacher conferences;
Invigilate examinations, as required, to support with examination schedules;
Any other duties as assigned by your line manager and/or Principal
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Education Degree in equivalent field with PGCE or other teacher qualification.
Minimum Experience
Minimum of 2-year experience as a middle leader (preferably Head of Year experience)
Minimum of 6-year teaching experience.
Experience of the UK curriculum
Job Specific Knowledge & Skills
Experience of a British Curriculum is essential, including I/GCSE and I/A Level.
Previous leadership experience is desirable.
Excellent communication skills
Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language
Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children
Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities
A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life
A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check
