Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state-of-the-art facilities across the United Arab Emirates. NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the M42 network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.

The Pathology Coordinator is responsible for coordinating pathology services to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant handling of specimens, reports, and communication between clinical teams, pathologists, and laboratory staff. This role supports operational efficiency, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance within the pathology department.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate receipt, tracking, and processing of pathology specimens, ensuring accurate identification and chain of custody
  • Act as a liaison between clinicians, pathologists, laboratory teams, and external reference laboratories
  • Monitor laboratory workflows to ensure timely turnaround of pathology reports
  • Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in LIS and EMR systems
  • Communicate test status, results, delays, and discrepancies to providers as needed
  • Support quality assurance, regulatory compliance, audits, and accreditation activities (CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA)
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and patient care

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in pathology, laboratory services, or healthcare coordination
  • Strong knowledge of pathology workflows, specimen handling, and laboratory processes
  • Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of regulatory, quality, and compliance standards in a healthcare or laboratory setting
