Job Description

The Operations Manager-Logistics holds a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a company’s logistics department. This position is responsible for overseeing and analyzing the entire logistics process, from acquisition to distribution. The ideal candidate will be someone with exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking capabilities, and an in-depth understanding of logistics and supply chain management. In this role, the Operations Manager-Logistics will ensure that operations are cost-effective while maintaining high standards in performance and customer service. The main objective is to enhance product workflow, maximize profits, reduce costs and ensure the timely delivery of goods. This role requires strong coordination with other departments, a passion for streamlining processes, and a dedication to constant improvement.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily logistics operations and activities efficiently.
  • Supervise a team of logistics staff, including hiring and training new employees.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain logistical strategies to optimize the supply chain.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Analyze logistics data using key metrics to identify and address areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations and laws.
  • Oversee inventory management plans to ensure accurate record-keeping and control.
  • Negotiate contracts with carriers and suppliers to obtain best rates and services.
  • Prepare and manage the department’s budget and financial forecasts.
  • Develop and enhance systems and technology solutions in logistics processes.
  • Communicate business objectives and logistics goals clearly to team members.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring high satisfaction levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management roles.
  • Proven leadership skills with previous experience managing teams effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex logistical issues.
  • Strong understanding of logistics software and enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
