JOB DESCRIPTION

The Operations Geoscience Specialist I is an entry-level position for candidates with a geological or petrophysical background, intended to be trained in the Drilling and Evaluation geoscience domain. Local presence is required to support client communication, operational engagement, and technical coordination. The role focuses on activities within a specific MENA country while supporting additional opportunities across the Geozone or globally when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform timely geological and petrophysical operational evaluations and interpretations.
  • Process, interpret, and evaluate LWD logs, geosteering data, geomechanics, and wireline information.
  • Conduct SQ reviews, data quality checks, and ensure accuracy of received datasets.
  • Provide wellsite technical assistance and support during drilling operations.
  • Participate in pre-drill and real-time wellbore stability projects.
  • Assist with geomechanical studies, geosteering operations, and well placement workflows.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and provide solutions when faced with inconclusive or contradictory data.
  • Prepare and deliver technical papers, reports, and presentations.
  • Engage directly with clients to ensure proper coordination, communication, and alignment with project needs.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support ongoing and future business development.
  • Collaborate with customer petroleum engineering teams to provide integrated solutions.
  • Work closely with supervisors and mentors to complete projects accurately and on schedule.
  • Participate in training courses, continuously improve skills, and learn WFRD tools and technologies.
  • Support WFRD operations when required and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain compliance with WFRDs HSE standards, ensuring zero LTI and incident-free operations.
  • Demonstrate high mobility and willingness to relocate or travel when needed.

  • High proficiency in both English and Arabic (written and spoken).
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and relationship-building capability.
  • High mobility, adaptability, and eagerness to learn and develop.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or Geology (minimum requirement).
  • No previous work experience required (entry-level).
  • Strong technical communication skills in English and Arabic.
