Job Description

The GL Officer is responsible for performing general ledger accounting activities and maintaining accurate financial records across the organization. The role supports monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes, ensures compliance with accounting standards and company policies, and contributes to the integrity of financial systems and reporting throughout ADA.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform Group General Ledger (GL) activities, including: 
    • Preparation of accruals
    • Manual journal entries
    • Account reconciliations
    • Management reports
    • Financial analysis requirements
  • Review monthly and year-end accruals for accuracy.
  • Prepare and review monthly manual and sub-ledger journal entries.
  • Perform monthly sub-ledger reconciliations with supporting documentation and appropriate descriptions.
  • Analyze and maintain group balance sheet accounts and related schedules.
  • Analyze and maintain group profit and loss (P&L) accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing activities for ADA Group.
  • Assist with budget preparation and forecasting for the Finance Department.
  • Prepare account and bank reconciliation reports.
  • Prepare and review monthly manual and legal entity journals in the Consolidation Module.
  • Prepare and reconcile elimination entries.
  • Coordinate month-end closing activities to ensure all corporate deadlines are achieved.
  • Prepare and review standalone, subsidiary, and consolidated financial statements, including disclosures.
  • Provide appropriate accounting treatment and guidance for business transactions.
  • Support the valuation and implementation of newly adopted IFRS standards within ADA Group.
  • Ensure all GL transactions comply with: 
    • ADA Policies and Procedures
    • IFRS/IAS requirements
    • Local tax regulations
    • Delegation of Authority (DOA) requirements
  • Manage the opening and closing of GL periods, including consolidation and miscellaneous ledger activities.
  • Follow all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Take reasonable care for personal safety and environmental protection and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents.
  • Participate in emergency drills, awareness programs, and emergency response procedures.
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business needs and organizational objectives.

 

Requirements and Skills

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Finance or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role within a comparable-sized organization.
  • Experience in the aviation industry is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of aviation industry experience would be an advantage.
