Job Description

The Officer – Cargo Operations is a critical role responsible for overseeing the efficient movement of goods through our cargo systems. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring that cargo is handled and transported safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills are necessary to coordinate between different departments, clients, and partners. The position requires overseeing ground staff, ensuring compliance with aviation and safety regulations, and optimizing logistics processes to enhance service delivery. The Officer – Cargo Operations will also be responsible for implementing strategic initiatives to increase operational efficiency and contribute to the overall success of the cargo handling operations.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily cargo operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with logistics partners to optimize cargo handling processes.
  • Monitor compliance with aviation safety and security regulations at all times.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve cargo operations efficiency.
  • Manage and train cargo handling staff to maintain high service standards.
  • Ensure all cargo handling equipment is maintained and in proper working condition.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on cargo operations performance and challenges.
  • Liaise with customs and other regulatory bodies to expedite cargo processing.
  • Respond to and resolve operational issues to minimize disruptions.
  • Implement and monitor safety procedures to protect staff and cargo integrity.
  • Facilitate communication between the dispatch team and ground operations.
  • Balance resource allocation to match fluctuating demand within cargo operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cargo operations or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of cargo handling procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills within dynamic environments.
  • Proficient in the use of logistics software and management systems.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize workload effectively.
