Job Description

As an Officer in Cargo Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of cargo management processes at a logistical or transportation firm. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity and timeliness of cargo shipments, contributing to the larger operational objectives of the organization. You'll be tasked with overseeing the handling, storage, and dispatch of goods and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to optimize operational efficiency. Your attention to detail and strong communication skills will be essential in managing documentation, coordinating with service providers, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of cargo handling and movement activities.
  • Ensure all cargo is processed according to company and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with logistics partners and service providers for timely shipments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cargo operations.
  • Analyze operational data to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues related to cargo operations.
  • Prepare and review documentation related to import and export cargo shipments.
  • Monitor compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in cargo handling.
  • Assist in the training and development of warehouse and cargo operations staff.
  • Implement safety protocols to ensure secure handling of all cargo materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance service delivery.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvement strategies for cargo handling processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in cargo or freight operations.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills are essential for this role.
  • Proficiency in cargo management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and partners.
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple operational tasks.
