Job Description

A Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining and overseeing an organization's computer networks. They ensure that the network runs efficiently and securely, which includes configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting network systems such as LANs, WANs, and intranets. As technological infrastructures become increasingly complex, the role of a Network Administrator becomes more crucial in ensuring seamless connectivity and productivity. They work closely with other IT professionals to integrate new technologies and update existing systems, providing support, guidelines, and training where necessary. Effective network administration not only supports everyday business operations but also enhances overall organizational efficiency and security.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Configure and install various network devices and services, including routers and firewalls.
  • Manage and administer network infrastructure such as WAN, LAN, and wireless networks.
  • Identify and resolve network issues or outages promptly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with network architects to optimize network performance and functionality.
  • Implement security measures to protect network infrastructure from cyber threats.
  • Maintain network documentation to include current configurations and operational procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users for network-related issues.
  • Perform regular backup operations and ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Develop and maintain network policies and standard operation procedures.
  • Coordinate with vendors and third-party partners for hardware or software installations.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies in networking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in network administration or IT support roles.
  • Proficient understanding of network protocols, firewall management, and routing protocols.
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools is desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with IT and non-IT staff.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification will be an added advantage.
