MEP Estimator 11D25

The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Estimator plays an essential role in the construction and engineering sectors, responsible for providing comprehensive cost analyses for MEP projects. This position requires a detailed-oriented individual with a deep understanding of MEP systems and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. The MEP Estimator is crucial in ensuring project feasibility by producing accurate and detailed cost estimates, which help guide budgeting and financial planning. This role also encompasses project management aspects, necessitating a collaborative approach with other professionals, such as architects, engineers, and project managers, to develop and refine estimates that align with project goals and financial constraints.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret project contracts, technical drawings, and specifications for MEP systems.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for MEP components of construction projects.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to develop comprehensive project estimates and timelines.
• Review and analyze subcontractor proposals for accuracy and conformance to project requirements.
• Attend project bid meetings to gather information and clarify project specifications and needs.
• Compile data on labor costs, material costs, and production times for accurate price estimates.
• Maintain updated records of all project estimates and ensure consistency in calculations.
• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and favorable contracts.
• Utilize estimation software and tools to increase accuracy and efficiency in cost analysis.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, contractors, and vendors in the industry.
• Provide value engineering by suggesting alternative means and methods to save time and costs.
• Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and environmental guidelines in all estimates prepared.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an MEP estimator or in a similar estimating/construction role.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Proficiency in using estimation software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for cost analysis and financial forecasting.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills for dealing with clients and suppliers.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications in detail.
