Experienced
Quality Control Engineer with 10 years of expertise in piping fabrication,
erection, testing, and commissioning within oil & gas, petrochemical, and
power plant projects. Skilled in ensuring compliance with project
specifications, international standards (ASME, API, ASTM, AWS), and client
quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Control and Inspection
Perform inspection of piping
materials, fittings, valves, and welding consumables as per approved
drawings, specifications, and codes.
Conduct dimensional, visual,
and welding inspections during fabrication, erection, and hydrotesting
stages.
Verify material
traceability, MTCs (Material Test Certificates), and ensure proper
documentation.
Inspect welding joints
(fit-up, root, and final) according to WPS, PQR, and approved ITPs.
Monitor NDT (RT, UT, MPI,
DPI) activities and review test reports.
Ensure all mechanical and
piping activities comply with project quality standards.
2. Documentation and Reporting
Prepare and maintain QC
documentation such as ITPs, checklists, inspection reports, and NCRs.
Maintain weld maps, weld
history records, and inspection status reports.
Ensure proper documentation
for hydrotest packs and line check verification prior to testing.
Assist in the preparation
and compilation of final project dossiers and quality records.
3. Coordination and Supervision
Coordinate with
construction, engineering, and QA/QC departments for inspection activities.
Liaise with client
representatives and third-party inspectors for joint inspections.
Supervise and guide junior
QC inspectors and ensure compliance with safety and quality practices.
4. Testing and Commissioning
Conduct line checking, punch
list verification, and reinstatement activities before hydro/pneumatic
testing.
Witness and approve pressure
tests (hydrostatic and pneumatic) as per approved test packages.
Ensure system completion and
mechanical clearance for commissioning.
5. Standards and Compliance
Ensure adherence to
international codes and standards such as ASME B31.1, B31.3, API 570, and
ASME Section IX.
Verify welding
qualifications (WPS, PQR, and welder performance qualifications).
Participate in internal and
external quality audits and implement corrective actions.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of ASME,
API, ASTM, and AWS codes.
Proficient in reviewing
isometric drawings, P&IDs, and test packages.
Hands-on experience with
inspection tools and measuring instruments.
Strong documentation,
analytical, and communication skills.
Familiar with quality
management systems (ISO 9001).
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma
in Mechanical Engineering
Certified in QA/QC
(Mechanical or Welding) – ASNT Level II (optional but desirable)
