AERTEC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our international design consultancy team supporting major airport planning, design, and development projects across the UAE and wider region. The role will contribute to the development of mechanical building systems within complex aviation environments, ensuring full compliance with project requirements, international engineering standards, and local authority regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and develop mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, stormwater, irrigation, drainage, firefighting, gas distribution, and fuel-related systems where applicable.
  • Develop and review mechanical layouts, schematics, engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and system diagrams.
  • Prepare Design Basis Reports (DBR), technical specifications, Bill of Quantities, and technical design reports.
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams including architectural, structural, ICT, civil, and electrical disciplines to ensure seamless MEP integration within the overall project design.
  • Ensure mechanical designs comply with UAE codes, airport regulations, and international standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, IPC, and IMC.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations including feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed design, and cost estimates.
  • Review technical data, specifications, and engineering documentation to assess design feasibility and performance.
  • Support and coordinate MEP authority approval processes with relevant UAE authorities (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and other jurisdictions).

Participate in technical meetings, workshops, and client presentations, clearly communicating engineering solutions.

Job Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; a Master’s degree is considered an advantage.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience working on UAE-based projects, airport or aviation-related projects is highly valued.
  • Strong proficiency in mechanical design tools such as HAP, Elite, AutoCAD MEP, and Revit.
  • Solid understanding of UAE authority approval processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of UAE codes and international mechanical engineering standards including ASHRAE, BS, CIBSE, and NFPA.
  • Membership in a recognized professional engineering body (CIBSE, IMechE, ASHRAE, or similar).
  • Sustainability credentials such as LEED AP, Estidama PQP, or equivalent certification.
  • Licensed or Chartered Engineer status is considered an advantage.
  • Fluent English communication skills, Arabic is considered an advantage.
