As a Mechanical Drafter, you will be an integral part of the engineering team, responsible for creating detailed mechanical drawings and plans needed for the manufacture and construction of mechanical products and systems. You will employ CAD software to create 2D and 3D representations of parts and assemblies. Your work will help ensure that dimensional specifications and material considerations are adhered to in the production process. Drafters must effectively communicate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure that design specifications are fully understood and accurately represented in detailed drawings and documents. You will also conduct regular updates to existing models and make adaptations when necessary to guarantee compliance with design changes or project requirements. Success in this role depends on a keen eye for detail, technical aptitude, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment using CAD software.
• Work closely with engineers to understand the requirements and constraints of designs.
• Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
• Analyze technical documents and client specifications to ensure accuracy in design work.
• Develop bills of materials for mechanical components and systems.
• Maintain organized project files and document design evolutions over the project lifecycle.
• Conduct quality checks of completed models to ensure adherence to design standards.
• Liaison with production teams to incorporate manufacturability into designs.
• Coordinate with project managers during the design development phase to align objectives.
• Stay updated with the latest design tools, techniques, and industry advancements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and industry standards during the drafting process.
• Support and mentor junior drafters to foster skill development within the team.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field required.
• Proficiency with CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and similar tools is essential.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and drafting standards.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex requirements into precise technical drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in drafting work.
• Experience with 3D modeling and converting designs into manufacturing instructions.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
