Responsibilities
During his/her work: The Materials Controller
As a member of the Supply Chain team reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager/ Materials Management Manager
- Manage materials allocation to construction work-packs & provide timely information with respect to availability of materials, equipment and services in respect of the work-packs at each defined stage of the Procurement to Construction cycle.
- Establishing and maintaining tagged material catalogues
- Verified quantity accuracy by cross-checking piping isometric faces against the corresponding Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Performed valve and specialty item take-offs from Issued for Review (IFR) through Issued for Construction (IFC) P&IDs.
- Executed material substitution using available surplus items to optimize project utilization.
- Managing engineering changes and ensuring alignment with latest project requirements
- Manage all quarantine and receipt inspection OS&D.
- Communication with the Procurement team & the Project fabrication contractors to expedite deliveries, schedules, arrange returns, notify of complaints or rejections.
- Communication with the HSSE Team to ensure safe handling and movement of materials and equipment to the Worksite.
- Providing input to and / or preparing a summary of the status of material and equipment availability.
- Understanding the Project Planning and Scheduling methodologies
- Providing detailed Materials Status Reports (MSR), in line with project reporting deadlines.
- Preparing and maintaining structured and indexed files in respect of Purchase Order / Materials Documents;
- Personally abide by ethical practice in all dealings with company vendors.
- Input to Timely Close Out of Purchase Orders
- Build a Strong Working Relationship with all customers, Internal and External

- Is Responsible for Materials Handling and Storage in accordance with company / client procedures ensuring that all transactions are auditable and purchase orders are closed out expediently. Materials Management reporting.
- Excellent level of communication in English,
- Able to work as a member of a team or the Ability to mentor / develop the skill of the team.
- Proactive and motivated.
- Commercially competent in project materials control and Materials Supervisory Computer literate; in Word & Excel, Power Point
- Knowledge of local and international standards applicable to their position;
- Experience in working on Large Oil & Gas Brown Field contracts. 3 years+ in a Senior/ Supervisory position
- In construction projects materials co-ordination experience
- Operating a computerised Materials Control system
- Interfacing with Suppliers, Engineering, QA/QC, Document Control, Procurement, and Client representatives when required.
- Ability to synthesise complex or diverse information
- Ability to work effectively, prioritise and develop realistic action plans in a fast-paced work environment
- Seeks ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
