Job Description – Senior Material Controller (Ruwais LNG Plant Construction Project)


The Senior Material Controller is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all material management activities for the LNG plant construction project to ensure timely availability of materials in line with project schedules, quality requirements, and cost controls. The role requires close coordination with Procurement, Engineering, Construction, QA/QC, Logistics, and Warehouse teams to support uninterrupted construction activities.


The position manages material requisitions, purchase order tracking, expediting, inspection status, and delivery schedules. Ensures all materials comply with approved specifications, drawings, project standards, and ADNOC/Ruwais LNG requirements. Prepares material take-offs, material forecasts, and monitors long-lead and critical items to prevent delays to construction.


Responsible for site material receiving, storage, preservation, identification, and traceability in warehouses and laydown areas, ensuring compliance with project procedures and HSE requirements. Controls material issuance to construction teams and maintains accurate records of inventory, consumption, shortages, and surplus materials.


Coordinates with logistics teams for transportation, customs clearance, and site deliveries, including oversized, hazardous, and critical LNG equipment. Ensures proper documentation such as MRRs, MIRs, packing lists, mill test certificates, inspection release notes, and NCRs are properly maintained and updated in the project material management system.


Provides regular material status and risk reports to project management, highlighting potential shortages, delivery delays, and mitigation plans. Supports client inspections, audits, construction milestones, and project close-out activities including final material reconciliation and handover documentation.


Supervises and guides junior material controllers, storekeepers, and warehouse personnel, ensuring efficient material control operations and compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations, and client standards.


Qualifications & Experience




  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Materials Management, or a related discipline.




  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Material Controller in EPC Oil & Gas / LNG / Petrochemical plant construction projects.




  • Proven experience working on large-scale LNG or ADNOC projects is highly preferred.




  • Strong knowledge of material management systems, inventory control, and project documentation.




  • Familiar with EPC workflows, construction schedules, and material control procedures.




  • Proficient in ERP systems (SAP or similar) and MS Office applications.




  • Good communication, coordination, and reporting skills.




  • Strong understanding of HSE requirements related to material handling and storage.
