Job Description

The Retail Buying Manager is a pivotal position within our organization, responsible for ensuring a seamless experience between the company and its suppliers. This role requires a keen eye for market trends and a strategic approach to buying that supports our business objectives and enhances our competitive edge. As a Retail Buying Manager, you will lead a team of buyers, overseeing their operations, ensuring quality and timely delivery of purchased items, and negotiating competitive terms with suppliers. Additionally, you will collaborate with various departments, including marketing and sales, to align buying strategies with broader business goals, thereby ensuring that the company's merchandising initiatives remain innovative and customer-focused. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans to meet the company's business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends to anticipate product availability and changes in consumer demand.
  • Negotiate contracts and build strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Lead and mentor a team of buyers to enhance performance and achieve departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to align purchasing with promotional initiatives.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order products to maintain adequate stock levels efficiently.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals to ensure alignment with company quality and cost standards.
  • Assess and reduce risks related to supply chain operations strategically and proactively.
  • Implement and maintain effective stock replenishment systems and procedures.
  • Coordinate with logistics departments to ensure timely delivery of goods and materials.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring efficient and cost-effective purchasing operations.
  • Regularly report on purchasing performance metrics to senior management for review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail buying, with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.
  • Proven track record of successful strategic planning and execution in retail purchasing.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to make data-driven decisions efficiently.
  • Proficiency in purchasing and inventory management software tools and systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on collaborative success.
