Job Purpose

Manage and supervise, under the guidance and direct supervision of Division VP, the formulation and implementation of the external communications and advocacy strategies to increase the standing and awareness of ADNOC Drilling with all external stakeholders. Promote a client-oriented approach in ADNOC Drilling. Manage and direct company’s external Major events, exhibitions, seminars, official gathering and meetings. Align external communication initiatives in ADNOC Drilling to promote ADNOC vision. Manage external communication consistency and ensure external strategy reflects the company objectives and goals. Dedicate 60% of the incumbent’s time on managing the external communication needs of the ADNOC Drilling and supervise staff of the External Communications Department.

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)

  • Develops messages, content and narratives for external use, focused on the ADNOC Drilling business activities and achievements; ensures consistency and full sign off of relevant SMEs senior communications.
  • Seeks out ADNOC stories and pitch communications content to ADNOC HQ. Develops specialized business content.
  • Effectively supports Group communications to address day-to-day media inquiries (national\international) by ensuring full connectivity with ADNOC drilling SVPs and VPs and closely liaising with ADNOC business line communications.
  • Prepares ADNOC Drilling CEO for any external communications to protect ADNOC; ensures alignment in close collaboration with ADNOC business line communications.
  • Develops English and Arabic content for digital\print and social media and ensure ADNOC approval and supports the roll out and implementation of the revised brand guidelines and unified website across the ADNOC Group.
  • Identifies IC\brand leads in ADNOC Drilling to work closely with the ADNOC brand team on all related issues and communication.
  • Coordinates with ADNOC HQ on external events focusing on brand management and promotion of ADNOC Drilling in ADIPEC, OTC, SOGA, etc.
  • Formulates an external communication strategy and visibility plans tightly linked to ADNOC Drilling priorities in ways to help position the company as a leader in the industry, boost demand for various service lines and increase overall business opportunities.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of external communications and advocacy strategies, support to business development.
  • Supervise the elaboration and implementation of media and events activities.
  • Initiate activities judged as beneficial to the company, its staff or which may enhance the company image and sale of its services.
  • Manage and direct the company’s external Major events, exhibitions, seminars, official gathering and meetings.
  • Supervise maintenance of websites, databases and knowledge management systems.
  • Facilitate knowledge building and knowledge sharing among external stakeholders.
  • Manage the provision of information for elaboration of ADNOC Drilling management communications and outreach strategy based on the external communications strategy.
  • Oversee the development of communication materials for marketing and awareness-raising campaigns, including briefing materials, press releases, Q&As, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews, etc.
  • Facilitate and manage the external communication process on the organizational level and with regards to the communication processes and procedures with external parties.
  • Align external communications initiatives to positively promote brand and messages to all core audiences externally.
  • Lead team members of the External Communications Department to execute all external communication and production activities.
  • Develop and manage the External Communications Department budget.
  • Institute personal and professional development programmes and initiatives for staff.
  • Cultivate proactive relationships with external stakeholders’ organisations that will promote the work and reputation.
  • Maintain documentation of standardized communications processes, policies and manuals.
  • Comply with all UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling and client Asset Integrity Management codes of practice.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor Degree in Communication/Public Relations, Journalism or equivalent.

Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • 12 years of relevant experience, out of which 4 years at the national level in providing communication packages to promote the activities of prestigious/large scale organization.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and Arabic.
  • Must be computer literate.
