The Magnet Recognition Program Manager plays a pivotal role in guiding and managing the organization’s efforts toward achieving and maintaining Magnet status through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This position involves leading the Magnet recognition process, including documentation, data collection, and collaboration with nursing and leadership teams. The Magnet Recognition Program Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with Magnet standards, preparing for site visits, and facilitating ongoing improvements to nursing practice and patient care that align with Magnet principles.

Provides leadership and guidance to support the organization’s shared governance culture, behaviors and activities, in order to further empower nurses in their provision of nursing care.
Supports Shared Governance Council leadership in their activities and development, providing guidance as appropriate and if necessary.

| Magnet Recognition Program Coordination |
Lead the organization’s efforts in achieving and maintaining ANCC Magnet Recognition status. Serve as the primary contact for all Magnet-related activities, including planning, implementation, and continuous improvement efforts. Guide the development and submission of Magnet documentation (e.g., application, self-assessment, and annual reports). Ensure that the organizations nursing practices align with the Magnet framework, which includes transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge, innovation, and improvements, and empirical outcomes.
Integrates the 14 Forces of Magnetism (or alternative current model) into the facility structure, culture and committees.
Directs or assists with the formulation of Magnet program goals and objectives, and strategic direction.
Ensures organizational / nursing policies support and concur with Magnet culture demonstration.
Advises nursing leadership and executive management if any deficits or causes for concern.
Develops and maintains own Magnet awareness expertise, ensuring remaining current regarding requirements and any changes to these.

| Collaboration and Communication |
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing leadership, quality improvement, and human resources, to develop strategies and initiatives that align with Magnet standards.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support and advocate for Magnet initiatives.
Serve as an educator and resource for nursing staff on the Magnet program, its significance, and the role each team member plays in meeting the Magnet standards. Plans education / communication activities for the preparatory phases leading up to Magnet appraisal site visit in order to ensure staff awareness and participation.
Plans and delivers informational / education sessions as necessary to enhance Magnet understanding and behaviors.
Supervises and supports Magnet educational activities undertaken by various groups or individuals within the organization.
Contributes to the planning of professional development of nursing staff in order to make recommendations for training or work modification, including orientation, professional development, continual education needs.
Contributes to the education of Shared Governance Council members ensuring maintenance of excellence and evidence based practice.
Communicates and liaises with various groups/roles of nurses within the organization Provide frequent updates to CNO about progress and status of preparations for Magnet Recognition.

| Documentation and Data Management |
Oversee the preparation and submission of required Magnet documentation, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to ensure Magnet Program designation. Plans for and collects all documentation required for evidence of Magnet standards demonstration.
Identifies areas for improvement or areas requiring clarification of information required for document completion.
Collect and analyse data related to nursing outcomes, patient care, and staff satisfaction, aligning findings with Magnet standards. Prepare for the site visit, ensuring all necessary documentation is readily accessible and well-organized.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ANCC Magnet standards and ensure the organization is continuously meeting or exceeding expectations.
Undertakes (or oversees) the coordination of collection of key nursing outcome indicators, and the extraction and synthesizing of data in order to develop reports and high level documents.
Undertakes (or oversees) the submission of data to a nationally recognized database which compares facilities of like size and nature internationally (NDNQI)
Submits (or oversees) application for renewal of NDNQI membership annually, for international benchmarking.
Submits Magnet documentation to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for review for Magnet designation award consideration. |
| Program Evaluation and Improvement |
Assess the effectiveness of the Magnet program within the organization and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on progress toward achieving Magnet standards.
Lead internal audits and surveys to assess readiness for Magnet application and reaccreditation |
| Initiate Research and oversight research in action |
Oversees and supports nursing research activities within the organization, in association with the Nursing Research Council.
Undertakes planned surveys at appropriate intervals to monitor preparedness for Magnet Recognition.
Provides feedback regarding Magnet preparedness, with action plans if required. |

| Experience Required (Relevant to the Job) |
Required : Not less than 10 years post graduate, preferably in acute tertiary hospitals. Must have excellent communication and ability to produce reports in timely fashion. Prefer educator background and experience. Positive written references. Desired : Must have work experience with Magnet Recognition Program for at least 2 years Experience in a large Healthcare facility on Excellence Journey |
