Job Description

A Logistics Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing the complete flow of goods from the point of origin to the end consumer. Tasked with overseeing logistics operations, this individual ensures the efficient storage, transportation, and delivery of products within set deadlines and budgets. A logistics supervisor must possess strong decision-making skills to solve logistical challenges and streamline processes. In addition to analytical abilities, this position requires exceptional leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of logistics personnel. A successful Logistics Supervisor is detail-oriented, able to work under pressure, and adept at handling complex schedules and large-scale inventories. They work closely with suppliers, vendors, and warehouse staff to ensure optimal operations at all levels of the supply chain.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily logistics operations for efficient product distribution.
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to enhance company efficiency and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of all transportation and inventory activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and warehouse teams to streamline supply chain processes.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with external logistics service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international shipping regulations.
  • Analyze data to assess performance and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Manage and lead a team of logistics personnel, including scheduling and training.
  • Monitor transportation costs and address inefficiencies to reduce expenses.
  • Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Implement health and safety standards to protect employees and inventory.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management on logistics metrics and achievements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a logistics or supply chain supervision role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills to direct logistics staff effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities for logistical challenges.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and inventory management systems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
