Job Description

The Logistics Coordinator is a critical role in the supply chain management process, responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of logistics operations within an organization. This position ensures that goods and services are transported efficiently and cost-effectively from the point of origin to the destination. A successful Logistics Coordinator will possess strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems quickly. The role involves working closely with various departments, including purchasing, warehouse operations, and customer service, to ensure a seamless and timely delivery process. Additionally, the Logistics Coordinator should be knowledgeable about logistics software and methods to optimize transportation services and contribute to enhancing business efficiency.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor supply chain operations to optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure timely pickup and delivery of goods within scheduled timelines.
  • Plan and track shipments using logistics information systems or databases.
  • Communicate with suppliers, retailers, and customers to achieve profitable deals.
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and distribution of products.
  • Prepare accurate reports for upper management on logistics performance.
  • Resolve any problems that may arise with transportation, logistics systems, or customer issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding shipping and logistics.
  • Maintain quality throughout the logistics processes by adhering to company policies.
  • Negotiate costs with vendors and optimize routing strategies to reduce expenses.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and develop actionable insights to improve logistics processes.
  • Oversee and maintain logistics software systems to improve operational predictability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Logistics Coordinator or in a similar logistics role.
  • Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management concepts.
  • Proficiency in logistics software such as ERP, SAP, or similar programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing potential issues.
