Overall Job Objective Review and audit research papers and verify similarity rates for faculty members, graduate students, and staff at the United Arab Emirates University. Duties and Responsibilities
Guide researchers to general and specific information about research review, editing, and similarity detection services.
Ensure research complies with academic and institutional standards.
Prepare statistics and reports on research review services.
Use similarity detection tools (iThenticate) to analyze research.
Prepare periodic reports on the number of reviewed papers and detected similarity rates.
Provide recommendations to researchers to improve originality in their work.
Collaborate with researchers to reduce similarity rates through paraphrasing or proper citation.
Respond to researchers’ inquiries regarding similarity reports.
Handle complaints related to similarity reports or research ethics.
Supervise similarity-check platforms and ensure their efficient operation.
Train staff on generating similarity index reports (iThenticate) with full understanding of relevant tools.
Deliver workshops and lectures on research ethics and academic integrity.
Organize workshops and seminars on utilizing research review services at UAE University.
Educate researchers on reference management tools (EndNote, RefWorks) and platforms such as (PURE, SciVal) for research performance analysis and academic output management.
Follow up with faculty members to ensure their PURE (research information management system used by universities to collect, organize, and showcase research activity) profiles and research records are accurate, complete, and updated on time.
Support faculty with ORCID-related activities,(ORCID is a digital identifier for researchers, helping distinguish their work from that of others with similar names.) including account creation, profile updates, and linking ORCID records with institutional research systems.
Knowledge of the research process.
Provide statistics and analyses to support decision-making.
Act as a liaison between the library and academic departments in scholarly publishing.
Develop policies and guidelines to reduce plagiarism and promote academic integrity.
Oversee the unit’s budget preparation and pricing negotiations for approval.
Establish unit policies and procedures and propose improvements.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualification
Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Library Science or Knowledge Management.
Expected Skills
At least 4 years of recent practical experience in research auditing and review services within a research library or publishing institution.
