Job Purpose

Supervise and guide the development and implementation of the "Operational Risk" part of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework in Station 1 and 2, to support the Enterprise business plan, projects, operations, and effective risk-based decision-making process, as well as meeting Risk Management regulatory requirements, guidelines, and recommendations to apply an integrated approach for managing risks and changing at-risk behaviors to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient commercial operations at Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP).

Key Activities, Responsibility & Accountability

ERM Framework Management

Responsibilities And Accountabilities:

• Support the ERM Manager in reviewing and recommending the mechanism for maintenance and enhancement of the ERM Framework to ensure its alignment with the business requirements regarding management of Operational risks in Station 1 and 2.
• Conduct review and reporting activities to ensure alignment of risk management for the organization in response to Risk Management regulatory requirements, guidelines, and recommendations of FANR Reg 01, WANO SOER 2015-2 (Risk Management Challenges), WANO Principles PL 2013-2 (Excellence in Integrated Risk Management) and WANO PO&C 2013-1.
• Facilitate the ERM process with Operational process owners to minimize the risk exposure across Station 1 and 2, taking into consideration the dynamic nature and the criticality of the risks within every department.
• Support the ERM Manager in establishing and maintaining the Enterprise Risk Management documentation including process descriptions, procedures, and guidance and reference documents, so that it allows for effective management of Operational risks in Station 1 and 2.
• Support the ERM Manager in continuously improving Risk Management and ERM processes with the relevant stakeholders for functions on the Operational side such as Engineering, Maintenance, Outage Management and Work Management.
• Support in conducting benchmarking activities and adopt industrys best practices
  
  

Operational Risk Management

Responsibilities And Accountabilities:

• Establish and maintain processes, procedures and tools, that support the Operational functions (e.g. Engineering, Maintenance, Outage Management and Work Management) with the identification and systematic management of Operational risks.
• Establish and maintain processes and procedures that describe the escalation requirements of Operational Risks to 1) Plant Management, 2) the Enterprise level, and 3) the relevant Executive Committees.
• Ensure Risk Management of projects related to plant functions are managed as per PMO requirements, and - where possible - formalize and implement methods for quantitative risk assessment.
• Conduct Risk workshops, including scenario-based identification of Operational risks, to support Plant Management in maintaining an accurate view on horizon risks and support an effective risk-based decision-making process.
  
  

Risk Management Culture

Responsibilities And Accountabilities:

• Engage Plant function owners and their delegates to maintain and improve alignment for further integration of all relevant operational risk processes with the ERM process.
• Assist in managing the ERM community in Station 1 and 2, to ensure engagement and that ERM process is aligned with the business needs and integrated within the Enterprise.

Risk Reporting

Responsibilities And Accountabilities:

• Review and enhance existing risk management reporting formats through engagement with the relevant stakeholders, ensuring it allows effective oversight and reporting of Operational risks.
• Develop and maintain Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the relevant Plant risks in line with the ERM procedure.
• Support the development of risk reports for the relevant committees, in line with the business needs and requirements to support Executive decision-making, including transposing Plant operational risk reports to enterprise risk report suitable for Senior Management.
• Support the Executive Risk Management Committees Secretary in facilitating the meetings through preparation and organization.
  
  

Risk Coverage and Stakeholder Engagement

Responsibilities And Accountabilities:

• Develop and maintain relationships with Plant / Senior Management to support effective organizational usage of the Risk Management processes.
• Assist in the implementation, monitoring and measuring of the Risk Coordinator Program across Station 1 and 2 and its departments and functions to act as points of contact for all risk matters pertaining to their areas.
• Coach and train Risk Coordinators within the plant, to ensure cascading of the knowledge to all levels of employees within the plant.
• Ensure Risk Coordinator training, where required, is provided to plant personnel and that appropriate reporting is in place against their defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
• Ensure that the correct level of risk information is maintained across the plant functions.
  
  

Professional Certifications

Risk (ERM, Operation risk or Project risk) Management accreditation. i.e., IRM.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

Experience

6-7 years of relevant experience

Pref -

• Master’s degree in the same areas.
• 5 years’ experience in the nuclear industry.
• International experience, preferably in the UAE.
• Experience in Project Management
• Experience in implementing risk management processes.
