  • Role Overview The Project Engineer (Electrical) – PMT acts as the Owner/PMC representative, responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems and equipment are designed, procured, installed, tested, and commissioned in compliance with project specifications, international standards, and contractual requirements.

  • Key Responsibilities A. Engineering Review & Design Assurance
  • Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables, including:
    • Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
    • Load lists and load flow studies
    • Short-circuit and protection coordination studies
    • Cable routing and tray layouts
    • Earthing/grounding and lightning protection designs
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Project specifications
    • Client standards (ADNOC, Aramco, QatarEnergy)
    • International standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA)
  • Verify:
  • Equipment sizing and selection
  • Power system reliability and redundancy
  • Hazardous area compliance
  • Oversee design and execution of:
    • HV/MV/LV power distribution systems
    • Substations (GIS/AIS)
    • Diesel generators / emergency power systems
    • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
  • Ensure:
  • System stability and reliability
  • Proper load distribution and contingency planning
  • Cover key equipment such as:
    • Transformers
    • Switchgear (HV/MV/LV)
    • Motor Control Centers (MCC)
    • Motors (LV/MV)
    • UPS and battery systems
  • Review:
  • Vendor drawings and datasheets
  • Equipment specifications and compliance
  • Interface with:
    • Process (load determination, critical systems)
    • Mechanical (motor-driven equipment)
    • Instrumentation & Telecom (power & control interfaces)
    • Civil/Structural (substation layouts, equipment foundations)
  • Participate in:
  • HAZOP / HAZID reviews
  • Model reviews and design workshops
  • Review and approve:
    • Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE)
    • Vendor design documents and drawings
  • Monitor vendor activities:
    • Engineering submissions
    • Manufacturing and FAT schedules
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • Approved vendor lists
  • Project technical requirements
  • Monitor site/fabrication yard activities:
    • Cable laying and termination
    • Equipment installation (transformers, switchgear, MCC)
    • Lighting and small power installation
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • IFC drawings
    • Method statements and ITPs
  • Resolve:
  • Technical queries (TQ/RFI)
  • Site issues and deviations
  • Witness and review:
    • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
    • Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
    • Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
  • Verify:
    • Relay settings and protection schemes
    • Energization procedures
    • System performance and reliability
  • Support system handover to operations.
  • Manage interfaces between:
    • Electrical and instrumentation/control systems
    • Mechanical packages and electrical drives
    • Substations and plant utilities
  • Ensure integration across:
  • Modules / platforms / facilities
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Project Quality Plan
    • Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Participate in:
    • Audits and site inspections
    • NCR identification and closure
  • Verify:
  • As-built documentation
  • Electrical completion dossiers
  • Coordinate with Project Controls for:
    • Electrical deliverables schedule
    • Procurement tracking
    • Installation progress
  • Monitor:
    • Cable installation progress
    • Equipment delivery and energization milestones
  • Identify delays and recommend mitigation plans.
  • Identify risks related to:
    • Power system reliability
    • Equipment delivery and integration
  • Support:
    • Change management process
    • Variation and claim evaluation
  • Provide inputs for:
  • EOT (electrical-related impacts)
  • Maintain records of:
    • Engineering approvals
    • Vendor documentation
    • Test and commissioning reports
  • Provide inputs to:
  • Weekly/monthly project reports
  • Engineering dashboards
  • Approved electrical engineering documents
  • Technical bid evaluation reports
  • Vendor drawing approvals
  • FAT/SAT and commissioning reports
  • Energization and system completion records
  • As-built documentation and handover dossiers
  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • 10–18 years of experience in EPC projects
    • Minimum 5–8 years in Oil & Gas / Offshore projects
    • Experience in Middle East projects (ADNOC, Aramco, Qatar Energy) preferred
    • Exposure to HV/MV/LV systems and substations
    • Power system design and analysis
    • Load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination
    • Electrical equipment selection and specification
    • Installation and commissioning practices
    • IEC / IEEE standards
    • NFPA standards
    • Client-specific standards (ADNOC / Aramco)
    • Familiar with:
      • ETAP / SKM Power Tools
      • 3D model review tools (Navisworks, SP3D)
      • MS Office tools
      • Strong technical review and analytical skills
      • Effective multi-discipline coordination
      • High attention to safety and compliance
      • Strong problem-solving skills, especially during commissioning
      • Good communication and stakeholder management
