About Danat Al Emarat Hospital - Women & Children

Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.

About The Role

Danat Al Emarat is seeking an experienced Lactation Specialist to join our Women & Children’s team in Abu Dhabi. We are looking for a passionate professional dedicated to supporting mothers and newborns through evidence-based breastfeeding education and clinical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation consultation and breastfeeding support to inpatients and outpatients
• Assess and manage complex breastfeeding challenges
• Educate mothers and families on feeding techniques and newborn nutrition
• Support NICU/PICU mothers with milk expression and feeding plans
• Collaborate with midwives, nurses, neonatologists, and OB teams
  
  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or a related healthcare field
• Valid DOH license (or eligibility to obtain)
• Minimum 2+ years post-qualification experience in Maternity, Postpartum, or NICU settings
• Completion of at least 95 hours of Lactation Specialist education/training
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based breastfeeding practices and maternal-newborn care
• Understanding of WHO/UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) recommendations and the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding
• Excellent communication, counseling, and patient education skills
• Compassionate and culturally sensitive approach to patient care
