We have an urgent requirement for KONG API Developer – experience in KONG API Gateway for one of our banking client in Abu Dhabi, UAE

We are seeking a skilled KONG API Developer to design, develop, and maintain API gateways using KONG API Gateway. The ideal candidate will have experience in building scalable and secure APIs, configuring KONG plugins, and integrating KONG with microservices architectures. This role involves working closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure that APIs are efficient, secure, and meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy APIs using KONG API Gateway.

Configure and manage KONG plugins for rate limiting, authentication, logging, and other functionalities.

Integrate KONG API Gateway with microservices and back-end services.

Implement security measures such as OAuth, JWT, mutual TLS, and other authentication mechanisms for APIs.

Monitor API performance and troubleshoot any issues related to latency, throughput, and security.

Work with DevOps teams to automate API deployment processes using CI/CD pipelines.

Collaborate with development teams to ensure APIs are optimized for performance, scalability, and security.

Manage API versioning, documentation, and lifecycle, ensuring backward compatibility where necessary.

Maintain a strong focus on API security, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational standards.

Provide technical support and expertise to resolve API-related issues in development, testing, and production environments.

Requirements

Proven experience as a KONG API Developer or in a similar API development role.

Hands-on experience with KONG API Gateway, including plugin development and configuration.

Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and API security.

Experience with authentication mechanisms such as OAuth2, JWT, and API key management.
