Job Description

The role of a Kitchen Helper is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of a culinary establishment. This position involves supporting chefs and cooks by performing a variety of tasks essential for an efficient kitchen. Kitchen Helpers must have a good understanding of food safety practices and a passion for maintaining a clean and organized workspace. They work under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager, and their duties may vary depending on the specific requirements of the kitchen. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of meals by chopping vegetables and preparing ingredients.
  • Ensure that all kitchen stations are properly stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Help reduce food waste by properly storing and labeling ingredients and leftovers.
  • Retrieve ingredients from storage areas and deliver them to kitchen staff as needed.
  • Assist kitchen staff and chefs with daily operations and food preparations.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing food and supplies in storage areas.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards in the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and wait staff to ensure timely and efficient kitchen operations.
  • Participate in daily or weekly cleaning schedules and other assigned tasks.
  • Follow recipes and instructions from chefs to help prepare various dishes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques desirable.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized working environment.
