Job Title: Sr. Construction Engineer (AOI)– I&C-2

KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high‑profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Contractors Office/ Fabrication Yard Office in Abu Dhabi for some time and then will later move to Offshore Site on 6 weeks on/ 3 weeks off rotation.

Job Purpose

The Senior Construction Engineer (AOI) - Instrumentation & Control (I&C) is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and managing all Instrumentation and Control construction, installation, pre-commissioning, and Area Operations Integration (AOI) activities for offshore projects. The role ensures the successful execution of I&C works within operational facilities while maintaining compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, quality standards, and operational constraints.

The position serves as the key interface between Construction, Operations, Commissioning, Engineering, and Contractors to facilitate seamless integration of new facilities, modifications, tie-ins, and brownfield works into existing offshore production assets.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Management

  • Manage and supervise Instrumentation & Control construction activities within offshore brownfield and greenfield projects.
  • Ensure installation works are executed according to approved drawings, procedures, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate construction execution within live operating facilities and restricted work environments.
  • Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and work quality.
  • Support planning and execution of shutdown, tie-in, and integration activities.

AOI (Area Operations Integration) Coordination

  • Act as the focal point between Project, Operations, Commissioning, and Construction teams for I&C-related activities.
  • Coordinate operational interfaces associated with brownfield modifications and facility integration.
  • Ensure compliance with AOI processes, SIMOPS requirements, and operational constraints.
  • Support development and implementation of execution plans for work within operational facilities.
  • Participate in readiness reviews and operational risk assessments.

Instrumentation & Control Installation

Construction Planning & Execution

  • Review construction work packs, installation procedures, method statements, and ITPs.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and work-front planning.
  • Coordinate material availability and construction readiness activities.
  • Manage field engineering issues, technical queries, and scope clarifications.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular reports on construction performance.

Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Support

  • Support loop checking, instrument calibration, functional testing, and system validation activities.
  • Coordinate mechanical completion and system handover processes.
  • Resolve outstanding construction punch list items.
  • Assist commissioning teams during start-up and operational integration phases.
  • Ensure construction deliverables are completed before handover.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Promote compliance with project HSE requirements and offshore safety standards.
  • Participate in HAZID, SIMOPS, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and risk assessments.
  • Ensure adherence to Permit-to-Work systems and isolation procedures.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Support investigation and closure of incidents and corrective actions.

Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Commissioning, and Project Controls teams.
  • Interface with client representatives, vendors, subcontractors, and inspection authorities.
  • Participate in technical meetings, progress reviews, and operational readiness assessments.
  • Ensure effective communication between offshore and onshore stakeholders.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with approved project specifications and quality requirements.
  • Verify installation and testing records prior to handover.
  • Support quality audits, inspections, and documentation reviews.
  • Monitor closure of NCRs, punch items, and construction deficiencies.
  • Ensure accurate as-built documentation is maintained.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.

Preferred Certifications

  • BOSIET/HUET
  • PMP Certification
  • CompEx (Advantageous)
  • Functional Safety Awareness (IEC 61511)
  • NEBOSH or Equivalent HSE Certification

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control construction within offshore Oil & Gas projects.
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior construction or AOI coordination role.
  • Proven experience in brownfield modifications and operational integration projects.
  • Experience working within live offshore operating facilities.
  • Familiarity with shutdown and tie-in execution activities.
  • Previous ADNOC Offshore, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, or similar operator projects preferred.
