Job Title: Specialist Structural Engineer - Offshore FEED Project

KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high‑profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi for some time till administrative process is completed and the candidate will be then moving outside UAE (to an Asian Country - FEED location ) for 6 – 8 months and then returning to UAE.

The project duration is until 2028 with possible extension.

Job Purpose

Lead and execute structural engineering activities for ADNOC Offshore FEED projects, ensuring that all structural designs, analyses, and deliverables comply with ADNOC standards, international codes, project specifications, safety requirements, and schedule commitments. Provide technical expertise for offshore structures including jackets, topsides, bridges, modules, and associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

  • Perform and oversee structural engineering activities during FEED and detailed engineering phases.
  • Develop structural design criteria, calculations, specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Carry out structural analysis and design of offshore platforms, jackets, topsides, bridges, equipment supports, and ancillary structures.
  • Review and optimize structural concepts for constructability, installation, operability, and maintainability.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards and project-specific requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, constructability reviews, and safety studies.
  • Evaluate structural integrity under operational, transportation, installation, and environmental loading conditions.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide specialist technical guidance to project teams and junior engineers.
  • Review engineering deliverables prepared by contractors and consultants.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams including Process, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Marine disciplines.
  • Resolve complex engineering issues and provide innovative solutions.

Structural Analysis

  • Perform structural analysis using industry-standard software such as:
    • SACS
    • STAAD Pro
    • SESAM
    • GT STRUDL
    • ABAQUS (preferred)
  • Execute analyses for:
    • In-place conditions
    • Fatigue assessment
    • Seismic analysis
    • Transportation and load-out
    • Lifting analysis
    • Push-over analysis
    • Storm and accidental loading
    • Boat impact assessment
Project Execution

  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed within budget and schedule requirements.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations and contractor assessments.
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing technical documents and vendor drawings.
  • Coordinate with clients, certification bodies, and third-party verification agencies.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC HSE requirements and company procedures.
  • Adhere to international standards and codes including:
    • API RP 2A
    • ISO 19902
    • AISC
    • DNV Standards
    • Eurocodes (where applicable)
    • ASCE Standards
  • Support quality assurance and design verification processes.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Structural or Offshore Engineering preferred.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), PE, or equivalent professional certification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 12-15 years of structural engineering experience.
  • At least 8 years in offshore oil and gas projects.
  • Strong FEED and Detailed Engineering experience for offshore facilities.
  • Previous ADNOC Offshore, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, or GCC offshore project experience preferred.
  • Experience with Brownfield and Greenfield offshore developments.
