JOB OBJECTIVE

IVVQ Engineer will be responsibe for the Integration, test and validation of the Thales solution for the JERNAS project

The IVVQ function will be responsible to validate test procedures provided by the IVQM (Off-Shore) according to platform capabilities. Any failed tests will require troubleshooting and investigation in order to support the developers to fix the corresponding bug.

IVVQ Engineer will be responsible for the hardware and software associated with the IVL/VQ platform deployment.

The platform will be

  • HW : 2 Radio and Server components
  • SW : VMWare and Docker technologies.


The role will maintain accountability to deliver the project IVVQ elements in accordance with corporate engineering methodology and governance requirements, ensuring that the IVVQ discipline have tools and systems in place to deliver effective and efficient on-shore engineering services in co-ordination with the off-shore technical solution leads.

Roles & Responsibilities

The candidate shall be able to:

  • Be responsible for the Continuous Integration Platform
  • Have knowledge on deployment tools and system administration
  • Validate the SW development activities from Abu Dhabi (IVL),
  • Support the system and software engineering team during integration and system test activities
  • Investigate potential defects and discuss potential solutions with developers.
  • Log defects during the test execution phase and report test results to the test manager
  • Maintain and optimize the IVVQ platform(s) for the project
  • Be involved in network integration activities at system level
  • Be involved in the qualification of the system architecture for the project solution
  • Administrate the integration platform and support on the development platform
  • Maintain the network infrastructure on IVQ premises and IVL platform
  • Perform system integration on representative platform
  • Deploy all necessary tools to monitor and troubleshoot the platform
  • Understand, build and update software to achieve high availability


The IVVQ Engineer will provide competencies, tools and practices to participate in the delivery of an assembled solution comprising of its designed elements. Evaluate through controlled methodologies and tools that the design, behavior, interactions and performance of the solution achieves objectives against which it has been designed.

  • The IVVQ Engineer role will demonstrate with objective evidence and certification that the solution fulfils its intended use when placed in its intended environment.
  • The IVVQ Engineer will prepare solution Integration Verification Validation & Qualification activities, in line with the overall project development strategy.


Work Experience Requirements

A thorough understanding of radio technologies, cloud technologies and an understanding of the development of products within a project environment will be required.

Work experience in Defence projects or critical infrastructure is preferred (3-5 years)

In general;

  • Design and deployment of a solution with a customized dispatcher solution and data exchange is important
  • Proven experience in network design and ability to define the network requirements.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in software testing & associated methodologies
  • Minimum 3 years experience in complex system integration
  • Experience in administrating Linux system and basic scripting languages
  • Experience in Virtualization
  • Experience with Docker (would be an advantage)
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as a team to solve problems.


Experience in Thales methods and process is an advantage

Demonstrable experience of IVVQ environments, systems and practices

Qualification, Certification & Educational Requirements

Qualified to bachelor degree standard or equivalent experience in a complex radio systems integration environment

Demonstrable experience in the field of radio product/system development including field deployment, verification, validation and qualification of radio systems in a defence environment.

Must have high fluency in spoken and written English & French (Arabic would be also be an advantage).

Preferred Skills

TET IVQ Engineer shall have and will further develop the following skills:

  • Writing test sheets associated with the IVQ test plan, addressing specific technical requirements,
  • Proficiency with the IVQ Tools defined by the IVQ Plan (additional training),
  • Cloud/Docker,
  • Network and interface Design

  • Communication protocols
  • Software development
  • Good communication skills
  • Customer and multi party interface
  • Strong organizational capabilities


The role will require significant client and supplier facing interaction in a technical context and the candidate must have demonstrated experience in this environment.
