Job Description

The IT Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing an organization's portfolio of technology projects, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives. This position involves making impactful decisions that guide the prioritization and release of technology projects, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring the achievement of financial and operational targets. The IT Portfolio Manager works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that IT initiatives deliver value and support business growth. They are responsible for evaluating the risk and return of potential projects and managing the ongoing health of existing projects. This role requires a deep understanding of project management methodologies, a keen business sense, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the entire portfolio of IT projects to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Evaluate project proposals and prioritize them based on business objectives and benefits.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs.
  • Work with project managers to track the progress of each project within the portfolio.
  • Regularly assess project status and mitigate risks to ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop and implement portfolio governance processes to streamline project execution.
  • Analyze and report on portfolio performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage resource allocation across projects to optimize productivity and outcomes.
  • Coordinate with finance to manage the IT portfolio budget and financials.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment between IT and business units to support project goals.
  • Lead change management initiatives associated with the implementation of new technologies.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to legal regulations and internal policies throughout their lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in IT project or portfolio management.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects that meet business objectives on time.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies like Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage multiple project teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop innovative solutions for business challenges.
  • Certification in PMP, PgMP, or ITIL is highly desirable for this role.
