Job Description

The IT Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that an organization effectively prioritizes and manages its IT projects and resources. This position is crucial for aligning the company's technology strategy with its business objectives. As an IT Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a range of IT projects, making strategic decisions, and ensuring that each project contributes effectively to the broader business goals. You will work closely with project managers, stakeholders, and senior management to assess the value, risks, and resource requirements of potential and ongoing projects. Your expertise will help drive business transformation through the effective use of technology, optimizing project outcomes, and ensuring that all IT initiatives align with corporate strategies. You will leverage your analytical skills and industry knowledge to create a balanced IT portfolio that maximizes return on investment and supports growth.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage an integrated IT portfolio aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and prioritize IT project needs and goals.
  • Evaluate and recommend new project proposals based on strategic fit and resource requirements.
  • Track and report on the performance of the IT portfolio to senior management.
  • Ensure optimal allocation of resources across projects to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement portfolio management best practices and tools to streamline processes.
  • Manage risks by establishing control measures and contingency plans for IT projects.
  • Facilitate regular reviews and updates of the portfolio to ensure alignment with business changes.
  • Drive discussions to balance portfolio cost, risk, and return dynamically.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to project managers within the portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements within IT projects.
  • Communicate IT portfolio strategies and status to stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in IT project or portfolio management roles.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple IT projects simultaneously with successful outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess project values and risks.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to drive strategic initiatives forward.
  • Proficiency in project management and portfolio management tools and software.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders effectively.
