Investment Director Principal Abu Dhabi

The mid-cap infrastructure investor is seeking an experienced Principal, European Infrastructure to join its Real Assets department. The role carries lead responsibility across the full investment lifecycle — from origination through execution and ongoing asset management — covering minority direct investments, co-investments and other private infrastructure opportunities across both large-cap and mid-cap assets, greenfield and brownfield, within core-plus and value-add strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead origination, evaluation, structuring, negotiation and execution of European infrastructure investments.
• Source opportunities across digital infrastructure, conventional power, renewable energy, transportation and adjacent sectors.
• Drive deal flow through relationships with sponsors, corporates, fund managers, advisers and management teams.
• Lead Investment Committee discussions and present investment recommendations to senior management.
• Manage due diligence, valuation, structuring, documentation and closing processes end to end.
• Monitor portfolio investments and support value creation and asset management initiatives.
• Contribute to portfolio construction, capital allocation and broader Real Assets strategy.
• Mentor junior investment professionals and support the continued development of the European infrastructure platform.
  
  

Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of relevant investment experience.
• Demonstrable buy-side direct infrastructure investing experience is essential.
• Proven experience across core-plus and value-add infrastructure strategies, including both greenfield and brownfield assets.
• A recent, verifiable track record of originating, leading and closing European infrastructure transactions is mandatory; candidates must demonstrate meaningful personal responsibility across sourcing, underwriting, Investment Committee approval, execution and closing.
• Deep knowledge of European infrastructure markets and investment dynamics.
• Experience leading complex transaction processes from origination through to ongoing asset management.
• Advanced financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis skills.
• Strong commercial judgement and sound investment decision-making capability.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
