An Inventory Management Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of an organization's supply chain. This position entails overseeing the efficient management, control, and tracking of inventory levels to optimize the use of resources and minimize costs. The Inventory Management Officer is responsible for developing and implementing inventory management strategies, managing stock levels, performing regular audits to ensure accuracy, and collaborating with various teams to forecast inventory needs. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of inventory management software are essential to excel in this role. By maintaining optimal inventory levels, the Inventory Management Officer supports the achievement of business objectives and ensures customer satisfaction by preventing stockouts and overstocking scenarios.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective inventory management strategies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and stock movement details.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstocking issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and supply chain departments to forecast demand accurately.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Optimize inventory control processes and recommend improvements for efficiency.
  • Analyze sales trends to adjust inventory levels and meet customer demands.
  • Coordinate with warehouses to manage stock transfers and storage requirements.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track orders, deliveries, and shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and inventory management standards.
  • Liaise with vendors to negotiate best prices and delivery schedules for supplies.
  • Provide inventory training and support to team members and other staff.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and warehouse software.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis tasks.
