Job Description

An Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, ensuring that stock quantities are balanced according to demand and supply. This role is crucial for optimizing the efficiency of supply chain operations, minimizing costs, and meeting customer service expectations. The Inventory Control Specialist will work closely with various departments including purchasing, warehouse, and production to monitor inventory levels, coordinate timely restocking, and analyze inventory data to improve the overall performance of the organization. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in inventory management software systems.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels and recommend adjustments as needed to prevent shortages.
  • Conduct regular audits of physical inventory to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with procurement and warehouse staff to balance supply and demand.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and suggest operational improvements.
  • Assist in developing inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels.
  • Maintain updated records of inventory transactions using inventory software systems.
  • Resolve discrepancies between physical inventory counts and system records promptly.
  • Coordinate timely restocking and replenishment of inventory to meet production needs.
  • Generate weekly and monthly inventory reports for management review and planning.
  • Ensure that all inventory-related activities adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff involved in inventory handling and control.
  • Participate actively in cross-functional meetings to represent inventory interests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Inventory Control Specialist or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management software and systems is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with multiple departments.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis.
