GEMS Cambridge International School, Abu Dhabi is hiring for dedicated ICT / Computer Science Teachers to join our school from August 2026. The ideal candidate will have strong subject expertise across digital literacy and computing, with experience teaching across KS3–KS5. You will inspire students to become confident users of technology while developing their computational thinking, problem-solving, and programming skills through engaging and practical learning experiences. A commitment to student development, collaboration, and high academic standards is essential.
Overall Function and Purpose:
To teach and educate students according to guidelines provided by the National Curriculum Framework under the overall guidance of the competent education authority.
To plan, deliver, and assess lessons in ICT and Computer Science, ensuring that all students achieve their full academic potential, while contributing to the wider school community.
Main Responsibilities:
Deliver ICT and Computer Science in line with the Curriculum (ENC), demonstrating accurate and up-to-date subject knowledge including digital literacy, programming, computational thinking, and safe use of technology.
Ensuring a safe, clean, and well-organised learning environment that supports effective use of technology and optimises student outcomes.
Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to all students in the class according to their varying abilities.
Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities, and achievement of individual students and groups.
Adopting and working towards the implementation of the school development plan.
Assigning work, assessing, and providing feedback in line with the school’s marking policy.
Setting high expectations for every student and supporting them to achieve their full potential.
Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, attainment, and behaviour of students.
Analysing data and using it to adapt classroom practice to ensure all learners achieve their full potential.
Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports, and references relating to students.
Participating in arrangements within an agreed framework for the appraisal of students’ performance.
Promoting the general progress and wellbeing of students.
Providing guidance on digital responsibility, online safety, and ethical use of technology.
Communicating, consulting, and cooperating with colleagues, parents/guardians, and stakeholders.
Reviewing and evaluating teaching strategies and programmes in line with curriculum expectations and standards to improve teaching and learning.
Advising and cooperating with leadership and colleagues on curriculum planning, teaching resources, and assessment practices.
Maintaining high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning through peer observation and feedback.
Participating in continuing professional development (CPD) and staying current with developments in the subject.
Maintaining good order and discipline and safeguarding student wellbeing at all times.
Reporting any safeguarding concerns in line with school and GEMS policy.
Participating in staff meetings and school events as required.
Contributing to the professional development of new teachers where applicable.
Supporting the effective use and maintenance of ICT equipment, systems, and digital resources.
Ensuring the safe custody and appropriate use of school-issued devices and resources.
Attending parent meetings and supporting communication around student progress.
Monitoring student attendance and following up as required.
Supporting extracurricular and enrichment opportunities such as coding clubs, robotics, or digital innovation activities.
Working collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants to support students with additional needs, including IEP implementation where required.
Making effective use of technology to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.
Participating in duties as assigned by the Head of Department/Head of School.
Assisting in the planning and organisation of school events and functions.
Skills
Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
Education/teaching degree OR Bachelor’s degree in ICT, Computer Science, or a related field with a recognised teaching qualification/license.
Strong subject knowledge across ICT and Computer Science, including programming and computational thinking.
Experience teaching the English National Curriculum (ENC) across KS3–KS5, with experience in GCSE/A-levels delivery and assessment.
Skilled teacher with a solid commitment to teaching and learning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
Ability to integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning.
Minimum of two years’ teaching experience in a relevant subject/age group.
