Job Description

We are seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will assist in developing and implementing policies and practices that identify and mitigate hazardous conditions in both workplace and external environments. This position applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education, with work performed under close supervision as you develop your professional capabilities in the HSE field.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Development and Implementation

  • Assist in developing and maintaining HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines that comply with applicable regulations and standards
  • Support the implementation of safety programs and initiatives designed to prevent workplace accidents and environmental incidents
  • Collaborate in executing and monitoring HSE initiatives across departments, tracking progress and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Help maintain documentation related to HSE policies and procedures

Hazard Assessment and Monitoring

  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and operations (project sites) to identify potential environmental and safety hazards
  • Assist in monitoring workplace conditions to ensure compliance with established health and safety standards
  • Support in operating, maintaining, and calibrating health, safety and environmental monitoring equipment

Incident Investigation and Reporting

  • Participate in investigating workplace accidents and environmental incidents under supervision
  • Document findings from investigations and assist in developing recommendations to prevent recurrence
  • Compile data and prepare reports

Training and Education

  • Support the development and delivery of HSE training materials for employees
  • Assist in conducting safety awareness sessions and training programs

Stakeholder management

  • Help maintain relationships with all employees, customers, and other stakeholders
  • Assist in preparing communications regarding the organizations HSE performance

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • 1- 3 years of professional experience in HSE or related field is required
  • Knowledge of HSE principles, regulations, and standards

Skills And Competencies

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication abilities - English
  • Understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
