Job Purpose

The HSE Officer at UAE - Integrated Facility Management in Abu Dhabi plays a crucial role in fostering a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment. This position is dedicated to implementing and maintaining robust health, safety, and environmental practices in alignment with ISO standards and company policies, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and continual improvement.

Roles, Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive health, safety, and environmental inspections and audits to identify risks and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and accidents, analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Develop, update, and implement HSE policies, procedures, and training programs across the organization to promote awareness and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments and external agencies to ensure alignment on HSE initiatives and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform environmental impact assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to minimize environmental footprint.
  • Prepare detailed reports on HSE performance, trends, and compliance status for senior management review.
  • Ensure accountability by monitoring and enforcing adherence to safety protocols and risk management strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on HSE matters, facilitating continuous improvement and fostering a culture of safety.

Qualification

Qualifications for the HSE Officer position include a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications in health, safety, and environmental management such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable. Knowledge of international standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 is essential to effectively manage integrated management systems.

Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks governing workplace safety and environmental protection in the UAE and internationally is required. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to facilitate training, coordinate with diverse teams, and engage with external auditors and regulators.

The role demands a proactive approach to planning and aligning HSE strategies with organizational goals, with a commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of emerging HSE trends and technologies.

Experience & Skills

The successful candidate will bring significant experience in incident and accident investigation, internal and external auditing processes, and risk assessment and mitigation within facility management or related industries. Practical expertise in implementing and sustaining ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards is critical.

Demonstrated skills in interpreting technical data, driving action-oriented solutions, and effectively communicating complex HSE concepts to various stakeholders are required. The role calls for high accountability, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to deliver HSE training and awareness programs that inspire and engage employees.

Moreover, proficiency in environmental impact analysis and familiarity with HSE tools and digital fluency to record, monitor, and report on safety metrics are essential. The candidate should be adept at working in dynamic environments, managing multiple priorities, and fostering a culture that prioritizes health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
