Job Description

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Officer plays a crucial role in safeguarding the workplace environment by implementing effective safety policies. As an HSE Officer, you will oversee the health and safety of the organization, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the company. You will evaluate and monitor workplace safety and health risks, develop strategies to control them, and ensure continuous improvement in safety performance. Your role will also involve training employees to carry out their work safely and to understand the importance of such measures. You will be responsible for ensuring that all health and safety legislation is adhered to and zero tolerance for unsafe practices is maintained. You will also be required to carry out regular site inspections and report the findings to management while working closely with various teams to implement corrective measures.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies in the workplace.
  • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify workplace hazards.
  • Provide safety training and education programs for employees and management.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international safety and environmental regulations.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to determine the root cause and prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate emergency procedures and safety drills to ensure readiness.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities to stay updated on current safety requirements and standards.
  • Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and ensure they are effective.
  • Produce safety reports and statistics for management review and action.
  • Advise and educate management on safety strategies and risk management practices.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Maintain records related to health and safety, ensuring accessibility and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Professional certification, such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent, is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within an industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with various stakeholders.
  • Proven capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools for reporting and analysis.
