Job Description

An HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Engineer is a crucial component within any organization, ensuring that health, safety, and environmental protocols are effectively implemented and adhered to. This specialized role involves the development and enforcement of strategies, plans, and procedures aimed at mitigating risks associated with workplace operations. The HSE Engineer collaborates with various departments to promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization. They conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and foster a safe working environment. In addition to ensuring compliance with local, national, and international regulations and standards, the HSE Engineer is instrumental in providing training and resources to employees, equipping them with the knowledge to maintain safety and environmental integrity across all business practices.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety risks.
  • Perform regular safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with management to design and deliver effective HSE training programs.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine root causes and solutions.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety performance and suggest improvements.
  • Advise on proper legislative and regulatory requirements to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Implement emergency response and crisis management protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor environmental parameters to ensure adherence to environmental standards.
  • Provide expertise and hands-on support to project teams for HSE matters.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between departments on HSE issues.
  • Continuously evaluate effectiveness of HSE policies and procedures, suggesting updates as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in health, safety, and environmental engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities for effective risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder interaction.
  • Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Ability to develop and conduct comprehensive safety training programs for employees.
